The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology is a body incorporated by Royal Charter and a charity registered in England & Wales (212992).
We are governed by our members through their elected representatives on Council and the Board of Trustees as well as through a number of Committees of Council. This guides the operational activity of our Executive staff team, which is led by CEO Gwynne Lewis, with headquarters in London, UK and in our regional office in Singapore.
The Council is responsible for our professional, technical and learned society activities, delivering much of its work via four committees.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee has the responsibility to assess and scrutinise applications for election, transfer, reinstatement and resignation of our corporate membership (Fellow, Member and Associate Member), as well as the suitability of applications for our professional registrations.
Professional Affairs & Education Committee (PAEC)
Publications Supervisory Board (PSB)
Technical Leadership Board (TLB)
The TLB is charged with having oversight of our technical leadership activities which are considered to be relevant and meaningful to the membership, industry and government and, most importantly, provide public good. They drive the research agenda, industry direction and represent the needs of industry.
