Bangladesh Marine Academy propelling at full-speed ahead
Government-owned Bangladesh Marine Academy (BMA) – which partners with WMU Sweden and is recognised by UK MNTB, the IMarEST and NI, EU EMSA and MPA Singapore – prides itself on developing world-class maritime leaders. Its Bachelor of Maritime Science degree equips male and female cadets with the right training for entry into seafaring.
The Academy, founded by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu (friend of Bengal), Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1972, offers courses at all levels of sea-service, from Cadet Training up to Master Mariner and Chief Engineer as per IMO STCW Convention.
So far, BMA has produced 4,700 nautical and engineering cadets with professional, academic and leadership skills for national and international shipping fleets, as well as shore-based management.
With marine engineer, Trustee of the IMarEST and Council Member Dr Sajid Hussain CEng CMarEng FIMarEST, at its helm for over a decade, the Academy has a strong relationship with the IMarEST and has generously sponsored the Human Element stream of the IMarEST Annual Conference on 6-17 July 2020.
