Denny Medal awarded to best research papers in marine engineering, technology and operational oceanography
It is with great pleasure that the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) announces the 2022, 2021 and 2020 winners of the Denny Silver Gilt Medal. The medal is awarded to the best paper published in the Journal of Marine Engineering and Technology (JMET) and the Journal of Operational Oceanography (JOO). The medal is awarded to the lead author by the IMarEST’s Council.
The journals’ editors and the Publications Supervisory Board members selected the best papers from those published in that year and the winners were awarded their medals at the IMarEST’s Council meeting on Thursday 30th March 2023. As there have been no awards ceremonies in recent years due to Covid, winners for 2020 and 2021 were announced alongside the 2022 winners.
In selecting the winner, the editors reflect on both journals’ ambitions to explore the latest developments in the field for industrial practitioners and academia. The editors take into consideration the technical quality of the paper and the accuracy and completeness of the content. They also considered such factors as originality, significance to the research community, impact, and the clarity of presentation.
The winning papers are:
Journal of Marine Engineering & Technology (JMET)
2022: Filtering based multi-sensor data fusion algorithm for a reliable unmanned surface vehicle navigation.
