Making Wave Energy Commercial

Wave energy is arguably the last major form of untapped renewable energy. To date, efforts to develop commercial wave energy technologies have not been conclusive but this does not mean that no progress has been made. In fact, significant progress has been made in knowledge, tools, procedures, software, data management, innovation management, and collection and processing of a multitude of past lessons learned. The talk will present the direction of current wave energy research and how a new generation of combined engineering and financial design tools and methods are emerging to overcome the challenges in making wave energy commercial.

Ronan Costello is founder and CEO of Wave Venture a software and consultancy company dedicated to contributing to wave energy commercialisation. Ronan has gained experience of wave energy from the diverse perspectives of technology development, academic research, standards drafting, project development and consultancy. This experience, and more, has contributed to the design of an integrated engineering and financial analysis software that has the capability to increase the performance of wave energy technology and accelerate wave energy commercialisation.
