On 15 September 2022 at 17:00 hrs the Wellington Branch of IMarEST will host Mr John Fleck  CEng, FIMarEST, will discuss and present on the Technical Aspects of Marine Refrigeration Associated with Exported Frozen and Chilled Produce from New Zealand. This was initially to the United Kingdom and details the early equipment used and will cover the transition of technology from bulk shipments in large cargo holds, to porthole containers carried under deck and maintained via a centralised refrigerated system through to modern self-sustaining refrigerated containers.

The presentation contains elements of a paper that John has written on this subject, which details how advances in marine refrigeration revolutionised the early economy of New Zealand.
