The Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE - The Final Outcome

Join the Joint branch for the last in their lecture series for 2018-19 season. This lecture builds on the last presentation on the XPRIZE, presenting the outcome of the competition.

The Not-for-Profit US company, XPRIZE, offers incentive prizes to kick start interest in transformative technologies. It has been derived from other such prizes, of which examples will be given. XPRIZE itself has seen its first prize developed into Branson’s Virgin Galactic Voyager. Other recent prizes have encouraged developments in adult literacy, and safety of women in India.

Victor has recently been involved in one of a few current prizes, to develop technologies for surveying the oceans autonomously.
