Digitization is at the forefront of the mind in the entire maritime and shipping industry, as vessel owners, operators, ports, and charterers roll out digital strategies with the goal of optimization across the board. This involves process optimization, fuel optimization leading to decarbonization based on live data collected from ships and other external factors like weather, wind, waves and many more.
This session focusses on practical use cases of digitalization in Routing, Remote Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, Decarbonisation (Saving Fuel), Noon Reporting, Container Lashing, Hull Condition Monitoring & Data Analytics.
Fuel optimization is the critical component of decarbonization which can be achieved through multiple phases. Monitoring the performance of a vessel as well as monitoring emissions is the first technological phase when shipowners and ship companies install the necessary sensors and sensors.
In the second phase, it is important to learn how to mine telemetry data from ships and correctly process them in order to predict service, avoid problems and detect inefficient use of energy on individual ship units, which are associated with the overall operability of the ship. Monitoring, collecting and processing of telemetry data can also reduce the risk of shipwrecks and environmental disasters.
About the Speaker
Biju Nair is a technology professional based out of California with more than three decades of experience. Recently, he has been leading the Technology division at Alpha Ori Technologies as CT, focusing on IoT-based Marine digitization. As a founding member of Alpha Ori Technologies, he ideated the SMARTShip product which helps to get real-time visibility of the entire fleet, so that users can take faster, more informed decisions that boost performance, sustainability, and profits.
Biju is based in Silicon Valley, USA, and has a background in telecom and networking for over 25 plus years and has specialist knowledge in IoT (Internet of Things). In his previous tenure at Telecom companies in California, he has been involved in strategic leadership towards building high-quality networking products and significantly contributed to shortening the time to market for various solutions.
His extensive international experience has enabled him to manage globally distributed organizations as part of the senior management teams at Cisco and Brocade. He had pivoted himself into a General Manager role by leading the Xclaim Wireless Business unit at Ruckus Wireless handling the entire product development and Business Strategy. His undying passion for technology has won him two US patents in high-speed broadband areas.
